Well, it’s not really our birthday here at Blogbar. But we had to get your attention on what’s going on at Blogbar these days. Eric, our terrific in-house PHP guru, just told me the following stats after he’s switched some tubes in the belly of the monster (the way Blogbar runs, that is), and here’s what comes out in terms of numbers of installed blogbars :

• EN + INtl : 1370
• ES : 932
• FR : 710
• IT : 36
• JA : 11
• RU : 6

That makes us…3065! (05/29/2007)

To celebrate, Eric just added a small gizmo on the search engine we use : you can now search in Twitter (with twitter.FM search engine), too, for those of you that use the INtl’ and US version of Blogbar ! Hope you’ll like it !

Blogbar Widget is available for Opera. Eric strikes again with a new widget of Blogbar for those of you who use Opera as their browser of choice! It’s free, as usual, and allows everybody to have a small Blogbar widget running on their desktop. You must have Opera open at all times, but if you use Opera everyday, that won’t be much of a nuisance !

The widget allows you to :

Search on the web with: Google – Yahoo! – MSN – Ask – Exalead

Search the blogs with: Technorati – Google Blog Search – IceRocket – Blogpulse – Feedster

Search on social networks with: del.icio.us, digg, reddit, RawSugar, Newsvine, Wikipedia

When I search “my site” with Blogbar, nothing show up. What’s wrong with you guys ?

Well, you know, Blogbar uses Google to perform the inside searches on your blog or website… it means that unless your blog is indexed in Google, it won’t show up when you do a search.

Ok, so what do I do from now ?

You need to submit your blog/website to Google for indexation. Allow Google some time to index and test again in a few hours / days.

Go to http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl and submit your blog now !

Your Blogbar doesn’t work when looking for stuff in your own blog ?
It doesn’t work at all ? Most probably, it’s because you’ve added a “www” into your URL when installing the blogbar code.

Example

What you read when you check the blogbar script you have added to your site (at the end of the script)

[…]…&site=www.yourblog.typepad.com”>
or it could be
[…]…&site=www.yourblog.blogs.com”>

depending on the option you’ve chosen when registering your blog at TP…

What it should be:

[…]…&site=yourblog.typepad.com”>
or
[…]…&site=yourblog.blogs.com”>

see ? drop the WWW. from the script, and everything should be fine

After we managed (well, Eric…:) to have Blogbar available as a Typepad Widget, here’s a new breakthrough in the Blogbar development:
Blogbar IS available on Netvibes, the personal homepage !
This Blogbar For Netvibes model has been slightly adapted to accomodate the host, since there’s no need of an Internal Search on Netvibes.

But since Eric is quite a resourceful man, he decided to add some more functions & engines to Blogbar For Netvibes:

For the new users of Blogbar : if you haven’t yet installed Blogbar, you can do so on the Blogbar website. It’s a 12 seconds-copy-and-paste thing: you copy the code on our website, you paste it on your blog, and that’s it, you’re set
